What is Google?
First of all, you need to know the place of Google on the internet, because to know with whom you work is really important. The biggest sites on the internet are the sites that get a lot of traffic, meaning a lot of users visit them every day because they provide good useful free or paid services like we will see in the next portion of this article.That’s what makes Google take its place with the five most popular websites in the world.
1. Google.com (traffic rank = 1, type = search)
2. Facebook.com (traffic rank = 2, type = social networking)
3. YouTube.com (traffic rank = 3, type = video sharing, one of Google’s top services)
4. Yahoo.com (traffic rank = 4, type = search)
5. Baidu.com (traffic rank = 5, type = search, the leading Chinese search engine)
So you will start blogging at the biggest internet company in the world, it's Google.
Google services:
Most of the Google services are free. It is by this philosophy that Google is at the top of the list of web service companies. Some of these services allow you to have access to them without having an account at Google while others do not.

Here we will separate the Google services/products into categories:1. search tools
· Google search: this was the first service that Google launched. It was this idea that brought Google into reality. This web search engine beat out all the other old search engines who existed, like AltaVista, and it’s their most popular and famous service. It receives 100 billion search queries per month, making from Google the most used search engine on the internet, ah yeah its Google search who allows you to found any information you need around the web.· PageRank: this is a link analysis algorithm.
· Search engine optimization: this is the process of improving the volume of visitors and their quality.
· Google hotel finder.
· Google shopping.
· Google news: anything you type into the search box under this category will result in links all regarding that subject in the news.
· Google search image.
· Google search videos.
· Search blogs: results include all blogs.
· Author rank: the idea that an online author can have topical authority within Google search results.
2. Advertising services
· Google AdSense: allows web publishers to get ads and share them on their sites (it is a way to monetize your site). The ads content depends on the site content.· Google AdWords: advertise with Google AdWords ads in the Sponsored Links section next to search results to improve traffic and sales on your site.
3. Communication tools & publishing tools
· Feedburner, news Feed: it helps users of the internet to follow sites and get their updates easier.· Google Keep: for keeping notes.
· Google Apps: has many services (products) which help businesses and enterprises, including (Gmail, Google calendar, Google contact, Google map, Google Buzz, etc.).
· Blogger: publishing tools and a blog service, it allows those who have no knowledge in web programming to create a blog where they can publish articles, photos and videos, etc. It makes the dream of owning a site very easy and real.
· Google Analytics: after creating a site, you need know what happens on it, like the number of visitors, which articles they view and where they click, etc. After you’ve tried this tool, you won’t believe that this tool is free and not limited.
· Picasa web albums: this is a program to install on your computer for online photo sharing.
· Google voice: it is a free voice communication service. It is allowed only in the U.S.
· YouTube.com: free video sharing web site, which allows you to watch videos and even upload your own.
4. Development tools
these are tools which allow you to create something or convert something from one type to another. They are useful to make work easy for developers, webmasters and apps developers and for people to convert files as we said before.5. Map-related products
allow you to create a map or find a place in the world using Google maps. We chose Google Map Maker or Google Maps.6. Statistical tools
like the name explains, they are useful for getting statistics and clear ideas for a project you are running or maybe an experience you’ve had. We chose Google Analytic for Webmaster or Google Fusion Tables.7. The list will continue on and on as Google develops more services. After you read about all this Free services, I'm sure you ask that question, so the answer is "ABSOLUTELY"Why Do I Need to Have a Google Account?
The answer to this question is simple- · First, you will have access to many free services, yes, free, without paying a single cent. This does not mean that they are not useful or of bad quality, on the contrary. They are so helpful for anyone who wants to have a big or small business online, or even offline. If you are wondering how Google makes money when most of its services are free, here’s a very convincing article showing how Google makes money and grows its company <link>.
- · Second, you can use your account at Google to create accounts in other sites around the web. This means you don’t need to enter your name, email, address and photo into every site where you want to login, just choose login via Google and all will be done.
- · Third, we can’t have a blog if we don’t have an account at Google, so let’s create our account by following this step by step guide <link>.
Creating an account at Google (Google account sign in ) allows you to have:
· YouTube: you will have a YouTube profile where you can share information about you and channels that you enjoy so that you can easily receive videos that others upload and upload your own videos.
· Google+ page: just like Facebook, a social media network where you can meet people and talk with them via chat and share things you like, such as pictures and videos and, most importantly, what you think about or what you are doing today.
· Blogger: you can access the Blogger dashboard to set up your free blog and launch it online without having any knowledge about web development.
